Course overview:

This unit standard is intended to help learners develop the capability to plan, establish, and maintain a risk management system specifically for an extractive site.

It aligns with the Australian unit of competency RIIRIS601E - Establish and maintain risk management systems which has been adapted / mutually recognized in NZ.

It supports the requirements for Certificates of Competence (CoC) in extractive operations — for example, for “Site Senior Executive” under WorkSafe regulations.

Key Learning Objectives:

  • Plan and prepare to establish the framework for the risk management system.

  • Establish processes to support the risk management.
  • Plan and facilitate the implementation of the risk management system.
  • Audit the management processes.
